Unload: Being the Villain to Become the Hero
Look, a lot of folks out here are still chasing that online applause, craving likes and validation from people they don’t even know. But here’s the real talk: I’m 40, and the only fan club I need is my kids. I want them to grow up seeing me as their hero not because I’m perfect, but because I showed up for them, not the crowd.
Now let’s flip the coin. To really lead them, sometimes you gotta be the villain in their story. They’re gonna question what you’ve taught them, push against the boundaries, and wander a bit to figure things out on their own. The Bible says to lead a child in the way they should go, and they won’t depart from it but let’s be real, doesn’t mean they won’t test every bit of it first.
So yeah, you might have to play the “bad guy” for a while until they see the truth in what you taught them. And that’s okay. It’s all part of making sure that when they find their own path, they’ll realize you were guiding them right all along.
Sometimes being the villain is just another chapter on the road to being their hero.
